Bihar State Electricity Board was constituted under section 5 of the Electricity Supply Act, 1948 vide Bihar Government's Notification No. 2884 - A/AI-121/57 dated 25th March, 1958 with effect from 1st April, 1958.
The Board was given the responsibility of promoting coordinated development of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electricity in the State in an efficient and economic manner.
