Patna Science College was started in 1927 as Science Department under Patna College and formally opened on November 15, 1928 by the then Viceroy, Lord Irwin. Science College is an institution of higher science education located near the Ganges River in Bihar, India. The institution is a centre of international fame in the field of higher education under Patna University. The College is equally famous for its research and development activities. The growth in number of science students and the need for the expansion of the physics and chemistry laboratories made it necessary for the Arts and Science departments to get separated.
